In the Light September 22, 2008

As i think about the scripture from psalm 119:9-16 i think about the song ”word of God speak” by mercy me. You can only imagine why i don’t like that band but thats not the point here. God’s word is meant to speak to us. As i have thought about this scripture 5 things have crossed my mind.

 God’s word is meant to be active and alive in our life.  I have read these verses several times but this time it has illuminated in a way like never before

1. Request insight to God’s plan (verse 10)

        We have not because we ask not. If we really want to know God’s plan for our life we must ask. After we ask and search his word he will begin to reveal his plan to us. God is telling me recently that we just make it harder than it really is. Just ask me and i will reveal myself to my people. My sheep k now my voice. Boy when will we ever get it. God is not complicated. He wants us to have the abundance of life that he has to offer us. We just sit here and make excuses as to why we don’t know. I think sometimes its not that we dont know it’s that we haven’t put out the effort to know. God is not complicated at all. Its very simple ASK.

   2.Retain information for a Godly LIfe (verse 11)

We need to make it a point to remember what we read and  let it become who we are as a person to the point that when we stray off course we recognize that where we are dont look right. Ever been to a state park and then begin to walk down a trail and wander why this trail doesn’t look like its been traveled on much. Teh reason is it hasn’t been. You have strayed off the course.

     3.Receive instruction from God’s word (verse 12)

We need to have a teachable spirit. There is never a time where we can say we have it all figured out. God is always molding and shaping us to become more like his son. And to do this we must receive both instruction and discipline. There will be time when God will show us where we are going wrong and we will have to be shaped like his son in that area.

      4. Reflect intelectually for Godly Wisdom (verse 15)

It’s amazing what happens when we think on a verse for a long perid of time. It has new meaning to our life. Meditation is very important in this process. That is to think and ask questions. Ponder what it is saying. Ever said something you wished you hadn’t? Well it’s kind of like that . Just think if you had thought before you said that how things might have been different. Maybe you had encouraged someone instead of cursed them. What a difference it will make to think before you respond.

       5. Respond Immediately to God’s voice

Dealayed obedience is disobedience. When i first heard that statement i’m like whoa. What david first you say think about it now you are saying do it NOW. Well sorta but not really. In this way this is after you know something is from God and that is indeed what he wants you to do. The verse comes to mind that says if you know the right thing to do yet don’t do it that its a sin.  what if your boss were to ask you to do something and he comes back the next day what is he gonna think? He’s gonna say you disobeyed him. Well the same way with our heavenly father. If we don’t obey him immediately we have disobeyed him. It’s not like he is gonna steer you wrong. Someone who died for you will never do you wrong.

living by  Gods word is like walking through  a house at night. You know there are things there to make you stumple but you can’t see them you you cut the light on. so if you go down the trail of life without your lamp you will surely stumble. But if your carry the light (God’s word) you will surely stand strong.

Be Thankful September 21, 2008

For those of your going to a church that is seeing lives changed. Be thankful you are one of the few these days. Dont grow weary in doing good but be thanful that life change is happening. For those of you who have a leader who can actually sing be thankful. For those of you who are surrounded by Godly people be thankful for many walk through life all alone.  For those of you who have a relationship be thankful for many havent received him yet. We much to gripe about but just remember the words of paul in philipians 1. “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus”.

Did he start something in you? Of course he did silly so be thankful and rejoice in the fact that he ain’t done yet. Many walk in darkness and need an example to look too. If we are seen complaining are we then a Godly example? This is serious stuff folks. It’s gonna get very bad for those who dont have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Don’t believe me? Dust off your bibles and you will see just how bad. So he wants to complete what he started and for that to happen we must be thankful for what we have,where we’ve been and where we are headed. Any one reading this probably owns a computer and paid for internet service which means you probably have the money to buy groceries which is more than alot of folks so be thankful. In all honestly it sometimes for me to be thanful but i must remember that i have more than most people in this world.

Now back to my main point. Be thankful and be confident. Confident that God not only started something and will finish it but what happens in the middle of that is ver imortant. What’s in the middle of all that? Must be Jesus right? Well thats a given but we must remember that those who dont know Jesus are our goal. If you know Jesus i could care less what you think of me cause you aren’t the ones im trying to reach. God’s judgement is to come and rather it is while they are on earth or not is not for me to know. Be thankful for your salvation today and be confident that he put you here to reach those who dont yet belong to the body of christ.

Bike ride from hell September 1, 2008

Ok it’s been a while since i have posted so i thought i would say SOMETHING. Had the opportunity to return to freedom church in acworth yesterday. If you ever see a van with spincycle wrote on the side dont talk to them cause they will accuse you of things you didnt do and they are very rude then go  run over some bikes. Ok now that i got that out of my system i can go on with life . I just hope someone not associated with the church didnt give them a bad rep cause they are good peeps there.
