This weekend will be the beginning of resurrections and restorations. I see the work churches do in other towns and say God i wanna be apart of something like that. He said what i’m doing there i want to do in Rome, GA.  I’m just looking for someone to say YES. Well we have said yes. Yes to no more sitting inside the walls waiting on them to show up. Yes to being CRAZY. Many marriages will be restored many lives resurrected. All God wants you to do is say yes. I’m excited about tens of thousands of dollars being raised for a worthy cause this weekend and just as pumped up about seeing the many lives that are transformed by our God.

Next year alone God is gonna draw atleast 200 people into a relationship with him just because someone said yes.  When you give a 100% yes to God it will be brought with oppostion. You just have to remember exactly why you do it and to whom you are doing it for. To quote that person who no one can seem to remember who said it “to reach those no one else is reaching you gotta do what no one else is doing.” Yeah let’s get Craaaaaaaaazy baby. Lets remember if God be for us whom can be against us. No one worthy thats who. We belong to Jesus. So rome ready or not here we come. We are the people of God and we said Yes to you.

The 7 Deadly Sins Pt. 1 July 18, 2008

Filed under: 7 Deadly Sins — dstrickland @ 8:31 pm

The 7 deadly sins are not necassarily mentioned in the bible.  They are not mentioned as a group or called the 7 deadly sins. But they are indeed deadly to a believers life. One of those sins is called slothfulness which is another word for laziness.

Honestly i struggle showing grace towards people who commit this sin. In all honesty most of the church is involved in partaking of this sin. But what may be even worse is we feed and clothe people who refuse to work. Ok so i dont have the gift of showing mercy but truth is truth no matter how u slice it. But i’m not gonna speak on that part of it here except to say “man dont work man dont eat”.

2 thessalonians 3:6-15  says it best http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=60&chapter=3&version=65

What should the church do in this matter? According to scripture we should warn him. Warn him from what? Well it doesnt say warn him from refusing to hold down a job though that is one form of it and leads to believe thats what its saying. But also we should warn those who refuse to earn their bread in the church.

A christian should indeed provide for their own household. 1 timothy 5:8.

According to Ephesians 2:10 we were created for good works. We should be about the father’s business. Dont just sit their and try to feed off the meat the preacher gives but go out and feed someone yourself. We arent commanded to say i dont know what to do or i dont know what i wanna do yet. The reason you dont know is cause you won’t get off your your lazy good for nothing butt and go do something. Did i just say good for nothing? Yes i most certainly did. If you were doing some good you wouldn’t be sitting there making excuses as to why you aren’t setting an example for those coming up in the faith. James 2:26 says that faith without works is dead. Wow so basically you are nothing more than a dead carcus if you arent doing  some good.

I’m a firm believer that we should quit allowing believers to just sit there sunday after sunday and do absolutely nothing. If we are followers of Christ then we need to start doing just that. Jesus himself was a servant. If you try something and it’s not your fit then try something else but by all means dont just sit there.

Some people say. I can’t do anything. OH wow u just called God a liar. I think the real answer would be. I DONT want to do anything.

Then there are the  churches out there that are saying we just cant do what the huge church down the street is doing cause we dont have the funds. Cost money to love someone?  Both the believers and the church have become lazy and it’s gonna kill us if we don’t just admit we have screwed up and get out there and serve just the way Jesus would.

David and Goliath July 16, 2008

Was listening to a sermon by Steven Furtick (seems like i say that alot)  He was preaching from 1 samuel 17 where David  kicked the giants butt(cleaned up version).  He is dressed in Saul’s tunic but has to take it off because he’s not use to it. So this bad boy takes off with 5 stones out of armuchee creek and a rubberband then procedes  to kick some royal tail.

What can be learned from this? First he could not be used to his full potential until he quit using something that was made for someone else and began to just be himself. If what you are doing seems trivial. Just remember whatever you do , where ever God has you is to prepare you for the day you have to fight the giant.

This is a story of a guy who went from dumbherd or shepherd to giant slayer to king. Be faithful in the small and you will see the giants in your life start falling.  So go kick some a….

God of this city July 11, 2008

Filed under: Thoughts and things — dstrickland @ 11:42 pm

Ok i am sitting here listening to God of this city . I am a big fan of rock the house baby. BUT. This song is just hitting me hard right now. He IS the God of this city and greater things are still to be done in this city. I truly believe that the best is yet to come for the bride in Rome, Ga.

Why Rome?  Cause he is God of this city. People far from God will aggresively be pursued and some for the first time will hear just how much God loves them. That God has a plan for their life and wants them to live with him forever.

There is no one like our God. Here is a visual picture i get for the next year in our city. We have been trying to charge hell with a water pistol but just how much fire can u put out with a water pistol? People will now start charging hell with a super soaker instead. As we do this God will put us in a helicopter and fly us over hell with a fire hose instead. Water pistols and super soakers only have a limited supply and are not designed to put out fires. A fire hose on the other hand is meant to do damage.

He is the light to the darkness, the hope to the hopeless and the peace to the restless. People are going to see this as we quit being the mouth and start being the the hands and the feet of Christ. The gates of hell will not overcome the church.
